Better than a sharp stick in the eye Oct 01, 2009
By J. Marin It seems to work fine but the unit is too large to fit comfortably on the sink. More importantly the "caddy" which has holes in it to drain water has a silicone cap underneath that captures all that water and becomes a cesspool of bacteria. Your options are: 1. Allow the water to collect and take your chances with the goo that forms, 2. After every three minutes of washing dishes empty the caddy of water, 3. Permanently remove the silicone cap and make sure the whole unit is on the sink rim so it drains.

GREAT FOR KITCHEN Mar 30, 2009
By CJ
"ChefJeff"
This has replaced my plastic bottle dish detergent for the kitchen. Looks great, very neat and clean! No more oozing disgusting soap buildup that would accumulate on the plastic bottle. This works GREAT! Had it 4 months now, still works like new, dispenses just the right amount of soap, your in control of how much soap to dispense. Preferred this over the automatic dispenser, because the automatic would dispense a predetermined amount of soap when your hand passed over the sensor, maybe not enough or too much, also if your hand was anywhere near the sensor, soap would be dispensed. With this your in control.

Buyer, beware! Pretty product, but the pump stops working Dec 05, 2010
By A reader and a writer Am I wrong to expect a product like this soap pump to last more than a year? It looks and feels solid, but within a few months every press on the pump dispensed less and less soap, until the amount dwindled to next to nothing.
I really hope this unreliable item is an aberration for this company. I own several other simplehuman products (step-on litter cans and shower caddies) and I like the way they look, but I won't buy another simplehuman product aqain with the same confidence.
Whether it's due to planned obsolescence or shoddy product design and construction, this is one of those irksome problems that bug me the most: An item I depend on for daily use costs too much to not be bothered when it breaks prematurely, and the store I bought it from won't take it back without a receipt after 90 days. At the same time, it costs too little to save the receipt in the event that it does break, and it's a waste of time to look up and write to the manufacturer and box, tote, and ship it via the post office. So thanks, Amazon and readers, for giving me the opportunity to share my caution to you about this product and to vent my frustration, too.

Disappointing piece of plastic garbage May 17, 2010
By Emily Dickersen Bought this on September 15, 2007. Today is May 16, 2010. Guaranteed for five years. By one year in, chrome finish had bubbled and eventually peeled off. Today the pump cracked off. I wrote to ask for a replacement 18 months ago. They asked for a photo. I emailed it and then they did not reply. In contrast, their stainless steel garbage cans we have purchased years ago are still going strong.

Not what it once was Jun 06, 2011
By H. Wiesendanger I own one of these soap dispensers from before they made the pump chrome and added the caddy to it and it has worked flawlessly for years. Still does. I finally broke down and bought this one to use in the bathroom and I couldn't be more disappointed. First, the pump does not spring all the way back up on its own so you don't get a full squirt of soap unless you pull it back up first -- it gets hung up part way there nearly every time. Additionally, the chrome pump is already separating at the end and there is some sort of green ooze coming out of the split. It might be glue... or corrosion... I'm not sure, but it looks cruddy and I'm sick of cleaning it already. We've been using the new dispenser for 2 weeks and I'm ready to go back to refilling the Softsoap dispenser (you know, the one that comes with the soap) that we were using before. This is nowhere near the quality of the dispenser I purchased 5 years ago. I am disappointed in SimpleHuman for making such junk when their products used to actually be worth their ridiculous prices.
