Great snow eating machine Jan 02, 2009
By Thomas R. Miller I have the older version of this machine. The engine on the older model is rated at 8hp. Here is the down and dirty on the machine.
Pros: Power - able to cut through drifted snow 24" deep, Electric start - plug it in and push a button and away it goes, 6 forward speeds - gives you the right speed for the job, Price - good value for the money
Cons: Marginal Quality.
Bottom line - this machine is a good value for the dollar. After 4 Montana winters it still is going strong.

Kept the yard snow free for two years Jun 08, 2011

Purchased this unit in 2009. Has performed very well over two Wisconsin winters with record setting snowfall. Starts on the first pull every time. 208 cc OHV engine runs cool and is very fuel efficient. Large tires give excellent traction. The only part I was somewhat disappointed in was the plastic chute. Not as durable looking as a metal chute. Performs well though. Only bogs down in the heavy wet snow at the end of the driveway.

Do not purchase machinery over the internet Mar 11, 2010
By Robert Aaron Heede I purchased this product because of past experience with MTD, usually good machines. This product broke down after 3 hours of operation and will have been in the shop for 6 weeks since purchase. Amazon was very hands off on resolving my issue and I will not purchase anything other than a book from them in the future, if even that. So I purchased a snow thrower that does throw snow and was is still in the shop. Totally useless for the second half of the winter and we have had record snow fall this winter in Baltimore. Amazon has lost my confidence, my advise do not buy machinery over the internet.

Poor Qaulity Dec 06, 2009
By T. Duncan

I purchased this machine and discovered it was broken. I tried to start the machine using the pull cord and the cord would not retract after the first pull. One of the cables also keeps popping off because of poor design.
I bought this machine to save a hundred bucks from the competing name-brand model - bad decision. It is poor quality and not well made. My advice is to spend a little more and buy something decent.
