 Looks better in the picture Feb 01, 2010

I ordered this item for my dad for Christmas, as he was in need of something for his "stuff". I thought it looked great in the picture, especially for the price, and I liked the idea of having the option of the drop leaf. When it arrived at my house, I never opened the box, just wrapped it up and brought it over for Christmas. Well, when he opened it on Christmas day, I must say I was thoroughly embarrassed! The item was scratched in many places, looked extremely cheap and even had a chunk of the wood missing out of it! I would love to say that all of these damages happened in transit, but I believe that was very unlikely because it was actually wrapped and packed quite well. Which is even more upsetting that they would send this item out in the condition it was in! I called Amazon to find out about getting a replacement, which they did, but the second one was only a bit better. I let my dad decide if he wanted to keep it, otherwise I would have demanded a full refund. He chose to keep it based on the fact that he liked the "idea" of the product, but I would be very cautious when ordering a furniture item from Amazon again!

When I took this out of the box, I was delighted to see that the table top wasn't attached by a flimsy snap, but rather has its own leg that folds in and out to keep it sturdy. It is plenty spacious without taking up too much room, nicely complements our other wood furniture, and makes our house much nicer looking, as it holds all those magazines that were previously strewn everywhere. I had no trouble with its packaging, and the picture is true to its color.

This was a perfect gift for my parents, two people who have *everything* in abundance and who always tell me never to buy them a Christmas gift.
Well, I refuse to not give them a gift, and, if you'll forgive my crassness, this was the *perfect* solution to their growing reading collection in their bathroom which was getting quite out of hand!
This magazine rack is handsome with a nice wood finish. It complemented their renovated bathroom perfectly, and was not garish or outdated to look at. It's a neat solution, and practical, and yet also attractive. It's at a great price too.
It came on time, in perfect condition, I have absolutely no complaints about the product.
It can go in any room, of course...I just happened to know the bathroom was where they needed the most ;)
And they've had it now for 2 years and are very happy with it, and it's still in great condition....so I highly recommend it!

Well made, but was sent the wrong color twice! Sep 05, 2011

This is a very well made, sturdy rack, and vastly superior to the wicker one I previously owned. I like that it has two different slots instead of one wide opening. When it's just one wide opening, the magazines tend to curl over on each other, but having two more narrow spaces helps to keep them upright and in better condition. It also holds more than the previous two standard one-wide-space racks I've owned. The wood will certainly hold up better than the wicker or cheap metal frames of the others as well. I don't think I'll use the drop leaf much, as it's in a tight spot beside my sofa and it's cumbersome to pull it out.
I am giving this a 3 star review because though I ordered the brown wood finish, I was sent the black espresso finish one. After requesting an exchange and hauling the first one to UPS, the second one arrived, only to also be the espresso color. I am really hoping this third one will be the intended brown wood finish I want--otherwise I am giving up and just returning it.
