Great Buffet Server - Highly Recommended! Nov 27, 2009

The Waring Pro Professional Buffet Server looks great, is very well made, and works exactly as I would expect "professional" equipment to perform. We bought 4 of these units directly from Waring for use when hosting events requiring food at our small business, but also use them 1 or 2 at a time when we have family gatherings or parties.
I really like that the unit is modular, it can be used as a standalone griddle or with the "frame" to hold 1 to 3 of the individual 2.5 quart serving sections. Each of the serving sections also comes with a see-through polycarbonate cover with a slot to accommodate a serving utensil, my only observation is that the covers do tend to get fogged up fairly easily but not sure there is anything that could be done about that though.
A really solid piece of food service equipment! Highly Recommended!

Good product. Works as advertised Apr 27, 2009
By E. Persons I bought this warming tray for a party at my house. It did a very good job keeping three separate dishes warm over the course of several hours. It was a much better solution then sterno cans and trays.

Worked Great! Dec 06, 2009

I purchased the Waring Pro Buffet Server and Warming Tray in anticipation of Thanksgiving this year. It is very well made and a high-end looking appliance. I compared similar buffet servers in several stores, and none seemed as well made as this one. I used the buffet server for vegetables (mashed potatoes, corn, green beans) and everything stayed warm and appetizing. The server made an attractive addition to the buffet serving line, and I wasn't worried about the food staying at a safe serving temperature. The clear lids for each pan made it easy for guests to see the food, while helping to hold in heat. Cleanup was easy and I'm looking forward to using the server at Christmas! One issue some people may have is the size of the unit; it is large and will take up a significant amount of storage space, so keep this in mind if you have limited storage ability.

Great server - wish I'd bought it years ago! Jan 02, 2010
By Nicolle Apologies in advance for the long review but I hope it's helpful. I love this product and wish I had bought it a long time ago!
The server is very well made, looks nice, and works perfectly. I love that it's flexible enough to use it as a flat tray, or add the frame and 1, 2, or 3 of the containers. They hold quite a bit of food, too. I didn't measure out 2.5 quarts before I made the purchase so I wasn't sure what to expect, but the size is perfect for either a meal for probably at least 15 people, or snacks for a large party. Of course you can also serve less by either putting less into the containers that come with the server, or removing the containers that come with it and serving smaller portions in foil pans on the warming tray. i.e. use mini loaf pans for small portions).
I put this server to an extreme test for its first use when I prepared all of the meals for a 12-person race crew in a 25 hour endurance road race. I cooked all the food ahead of time (important note: do not use this product to COOK the food, it won't get hot enough to be safe). Then I used this server to reheat and serve hot food to the drivers/crew around the clock. Saturday lunch we had pork sandwiches with one metal container holding the BBQ pork, and the remainder of the tray warming the buns. Sunday dinner we had a Mexican buffet and this server was fantastic. First I used the tray alone with tamales and tortillas wrapped in foil until they were hot. Then I put the 2.5 quart containers on to heat - one held held about 3 lbs. of beef taco meat (probably could have held at least 5 lbs), another held 5 lbs. of shredded chicken, and the third I put half refried beans and half rice. While heating, I turned it to high and instead of the plastic lids, I covered the containers with foil and set the warmed tortillas and tamales on top.
I was asking way more than this server was even intended to do, but it worked great! The tortillas and tamales stayed warm, and the server got the meat/beans/rice hot within an hour. Once it was hot I changed the temp to low, put on the plastic lids, and was still able to balance the tamales/tortillas on top to stay warm. The drivers/crew ate in shifts, and this server kept the food hot all night, with just a little stirring to keep the heat even. I was also happily surprised to find that the lid design causes just enough condensation/steam to keep the food moist - even after many hours, nothing dried out. One other great positive is that this doesn't draw a lot of current. The track was running low on power and even crockpots were tripping breakers, but this server was fine staying on all night.
For Sunday breakfast, I took the Mexican food off and put the containers in a plastic bag to wash later (too tough at the track!), removed the frame, and used the warming tray to heat up a breakfast casserole I'd made in a foil pan. It was so great to have this versatile tray / server so I could make all of this ahead and easily switch from one meal to the next by using a combination of the metal containers that come with it and foil trays.
My last happy surprise with this product was when I found that the metal pans were very easy to clean in spite of the fact that the Mexican food had been in there all night, then sat for a couple of days until I was able to wash them. I thought for sure the bean one especially would be a nightmare to clean, but it was quite easy. The containers aren't officially "nonstick" and don't have that Teflon type coating on them, but they are still very easy to clean.
The weekend above was definitely the biggest test I've put this through! I have since used it for much more typical things, and it's worked great for a few different parties. I've used it for hot dips, and party foods such as hot wings, meatballs, mozzarella sticks, and Jalapeno poppers. As long as the food is cooked you can heat it right in the server, or if you want it quicker you can get it hot, then put it into the server to stay warm.
If you like to entertain, or if you host things like Thanksgiving dinner where you're trying to serve everything hot at the same time, I highly recommend this product!

Great product - but beware of the fragile lids May 23, 2010

We used this product for our daughter's graduation party, and it did a wonderful job of keeping the food warm on a chilly day. My only complaint is that the polycarbonate lids crack easily. I noticed a hairline crack in two of the lids right after the party (it was the first time we'd used it). The cracks were in the same place on each of the lids, which leads me to believe it is a function of a design flaw or manufacturer's defect.
