WMF Bistro 9- 3/4 Inch 2- Piece Salad Serving Set Jan 09, 2010
By World Traveler For those of you, who are not familiar with WMF, WMF is a German company. The company is known for its quality and "Made in Germany" manufacturing. Unfortunately, WMF is manufacturing overseas now (majority of the products). I was a little worried about that when I purchased the entire Bistro line for twelve plus assessories. I have used the products now for about six months and I have to say that I do not notice a difference in quality (German production vs. overseas production). One thing to notice is that I wash all of my WMF products by hand. I have never put any of them in the dishwasher so I don't know how they hold up when washed in the dishwasher. I highly recommend the Bistro line by WMF.

quite decent steel, but imperfectly machined Jan 28, 2012
By P. Chung I purchased these serving spoons in January 2012, and despite claims to the contrary, they were still made of 18/10 steel. 18/10 steel is far preferable to 18/0 or 18/C steel since it includes nickel in the steel mixture. Nickel drastically lowers the metallic aftertaste that cheaper silverware can impart to food. If you are very sensitive to aftertastes coloring your food, you should use 18/10 steel at the very least. They were manufactured in China.
These serving spoons are mostly well machined except where it counts. Yes, both the handle and bowl are smooth and well polished, but it's the notch that deny these serving spoons their fifth star. The notch is not perfectly machined. I am being overly critical though. These serving spoons are VERY well machined; just not perfectly machined where it counts. The machining on these serving spoons is VASTLY superior to what you would find in your local supermarket or discount store. I repeat, they're made quite well; just not perfectly. You would have to pay three times as much to have perfect machining, and even then, you'd have to inspect them closely to be sure. If you stack your silverware in a caddy, you'll find that these spoons nest perfectly. They are rather sturdy, though you should take their description to heart. It's fairly clear that these were made to serve salad and other side dishes: don't expect to scoop ice cream with these.
A perfectly machined notch would have guaranteed a fifth star, so I wavered between 4 stars and 3 stars. Ultimately, the price and imperfectly machined notch made this a solid 3 star product: very serviceable, but not outstanding in anyway. These represent a significant improvement over the serving spoons that I was using before, and I would most likely buy these again. Note that many WMF items are eligible for Amazon's 4-for-3 promotion, so you can outfit your kitchen in WMF for a very competitive price.

Very nice! Nov 11, 2009
By Ricecat Beatiful set, heavy, shiny--high quality. They look nicer than in the picture. The color in the picture is sort of blue and cold. It's actually just in normal silver color. Will definitely buy more products from this line.

"seek & find"
These are pretty much as advertised but I was surprised by the weight of them. Still, they are attractive and work fine.
