This product grabbed my eye because of it's simple, beautiful appearance and for $20 I thought it would work just as beautifully. However, I had trouble pumping the soap out of this dispenser from day one. Until finally it stopped pumping altogether. For no reason. How does a soap dispenser from target for $1 work better than this one?! It literally won't even pump, and it's filled with soap. I took it off to inspect it and it broke after trying to pump it one time. IT'S GARBAGE. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

I was given this, in the Espresso color, as a gift for Christmas. Unfortunately, the pump didn't work, I returned it to Amazon and bought one at a local Bed, Bath and Beyond. Much to my dismay, this pump didn't work either. I then contacted Umbra, and they acknowledged the pump problem and that they were fixing it. They are supposed to be sending me a new pump to replace the bad one. I'll update my review when I get it. Beyond the pump problem, I really like the look of this product, so I am hoping the new pump works.

After reading the review posted by another person whose item was defective, I thought I would add my comment that I had purchased this item as well and the pump was defective right out of the box.

I have had this dispenser for about a month now. It is nice looking and goes well with a modern kitchen (dark cherry cabinets, off-white cement counters) and dispenses just the right amount of soap.
Unfortunately there is one issue I had with it. With normal use there seems to be just enough soap left in the spout after dispensing. This causes one drop to fall on the product itself, sitting about halfway down. Nothing major, but annoying sometimes. At least it does not drip on the counter.
Taking a little more time and momentarily leaving your hand under the spout basically corrects this. I have gotten used to doing this, but guests do not know. It is possible the viscosity of the soap I use may have something to do with this.
All-in-all I am happy with this product.

We bought this pump for our guest bathroom on the main floor. I love that it holds a lot of soap (no need to refill frequently) and looks lovely. The pump works perfectly (but maybe I bought mine after the "fix" mentioned by another reviewer?) and I like that it dispenses a comfortable amount of soap in a "gentle" way -- no sudden squirts or thin stream. The only drawback is that the top edge is looking a little blackened in the place where the side meets the top -- we have toddlers and the soap dispenser is probably left wet on top quite frequently -- maybe that's why it looks a little mildewy in the seam.
