Outstanding value! Feb 11, 2008

"Heathen"
I am usually hesistant to order bed frames sight unseen, but because of the reviews (and the price) I took a chance with this product.
Short and sweet: high quality, great finish, perfect fight.
First thing I noticed was the screws screw into metal, not wood. Nice! The finish was very smooth and was ready for staining/sealing out of the box. I decided to finish it with Danish Oil for a natural finish. Looks fantastic. All holes lined up perfectly. All pieces fit together correctly, and everything is level. The quality for the price is A+. It does stand tall.....taller than my old metal frame/box spring/mattress combo. As a matter of fact, it is tall enough for me to easily climb under (6'0", 180lbs), but I like it that way. I was able to assemble it by myself in 30 minutes. TIP: use a box to hold up one end while you work on the opposite end.
The only thing I would warn others about is the gap in the middle is wider than shown in the picture. It didn't matter to me since I was laying down some plywood for a memory foam mattress, but I wanted to let others know.
I saw much cheaper (not to mention heavier) particle board platform beds locally in shops for $250+ and none matched the quality of this frame.

Sturdy, but... Jun 25, 2009
By W. Scott Heitman I've given this product 4 stars because it's well constructed, BUT I want to make quite clear what you CAN'T do with this bed: put a mattress directly on top of it. Other reviews have made it sound like you can get away without a boxspring or some other solution- this isn't the case. The reason is that the two planks of wood running down the center of the bed are not flush (by about 3/8ths of an inch) with the slats running across each side. The end result is that you can easily feel a line running down the center of the mattress (and my mattress is atleast 10 inches thick).
While I've been sleeping well enough, I can't imagine this setup is good for the mattress in the long term. I'll be going to Lowe's to try to get 2 thin sheets of wood to place over the slats (so that those 2 areas of the bed are even with the center of the bed).
Other than that, the product is attractive, simple to put together and feels solid. I just don't want anybody else to be surprised that a bed this high off the ground doesn't naturally facilitate a mattress only setup.

This is a great bed. Jul 06, 2007
By Rebecca This is a very solid bed, it is very well made and sturdy. I absolutely love the look of it, and it was easy to put together (even though the instructions were very brief). It is much higher off the floor than I expected, so be mindful of the measurements, it doesn't hover right over the floor, as it seems in the picture. It is quite high off the ground, check out the measurements. I absolutely love the way it looks with pillows and blankets. It was WELL worth the $.

Great Value and solid wood construction. Easy to Assemble Sep 03, 2010
By meltbanana This product is priced even cheaper than garbage IKEA particleboard/MDF furniture. But unlike those, this is actually quality poplar hardwood, well cut and toleranced and easy to put together. Assembly was a breeze and bolts go into metal inserts allowing proper torque and tight assembly.
Regarding the center beams: Yes, they are higher than the slats by nearly exactly 3/16". It is NOT 3/8" or 1/2" like other reviews are saying. At 3/16" it CAN pose a problem with thinner futons but most likely you will not notice it.
Home Depot sells a 3/16" tempered pegboard material that is 48 inches by 96 inches. You can cut it into two panels at 24 inches by 78 inches each and you will be able to lay them over the slats for an even platform. The pegboard material is recommended for proper airflow.
At this price, I think it is not absurd to have to do a little DIY handiwork to get it perfect. Especially since the final product is excellent (unlike other cheap furniture where even after some DIY clamping and gluing and creativity, the final product leaves a lot to be desired).
Clearance under the bed is 11.75" leaving a lot of room to store stuff.
Highly recommended but beware the center beams MAY pose a problem and you may want to get some material to improve it.

This is a wonderful frame! Sep 07, 2007

I am very happy with this frame. I am all for real-wood furniture, which is lighter than "created" wood, looks better, and is much easier to work with. I had no trouble putting this together by myself. It is also light enough in weight for me to move by myself without much of a problem, which is a big concern for me. My only problem is that I want to use a 4" memory foam mattress with it, and you can feel the ridges of the slats through the mattress. I could have chosen a bigger, heavier created wood platform bed that was lower to the ground, did not allow for storage underneath the bed, and was much more cumbersome, but I am still happy with this one. I do think I might try to purchase some plywood to put over the frame, though, so I have a solid bottom under my mattress.
