Fun tissue box cover, but be careful Jun 27, 2005
By Matthew Maldre This tissue box is lots fun with being able to pull tissues out of an Easter Island statue's nose! But the danger behind this statue is nothing to sneeze at.
Be careful if you display this vertically as shown in the amazon photo. Whenever someone goes to pull a tissue out, the entire thing tips over very easily. This tissue box is best displayed laying down horizontally, which is a shame, because the real Easter Island heads aren't laying down, they are standing up.
If you really want to stand it up, try putting some strong adhesive tape underneath it to prevent it from falling over while pulling out a tissue. Otherwise you'll have a running nose and a falling tissue box.

A+ on Creativity! Apr 15, 2006
By Baby Dove I was actually just looking up tissue boxes, not tissue box covers when I came across this. The cover fits over a standard size tissue box and is held in place using an elastic strap in the back. It does look better when its standing up on its side, that way everyone can see the face on the box. However to do so you have to somehow fix it in place so that it doesn't fall - its top heavy and will topple over as soon as you try to take a tissue out. I took it to work and it sparked a lot of smiles and laughs. I fixed it in place actually using a bent paper clip. I hooked the paper clip through one of the side handles on the box then hooked the other side of the paper clip to a joint in my cubicle wall where two walls connect. To hide all of this I used fake leaves and now my box looks like its growing leaves out of its head too!
Head's up: If you do buy this, make sure that when you start using it to pull the tissues out at an angle. The way the nose is shaped, its better to pull the tissues down - with a new box of tissues, the first few always come out torn in half.

You can Wall Mount this if you're handy Nov 25, 2005
By Valorie Spencer This tissue box is so much fun but it will tip over if you display it upright. It could be wall mounted if you're clever - just screw it into the wall through the inside and fasten the Moai to the container. Too bad it doesn't come with hardware just for that purpose.
BTW, I don't know why Amazon calls this a "tiki" when it is clearly an Easter Island "Moai". Another reviewer said the Moai don't lay down, well... they do. So even if you do display this on it's back you're still going to enjoy it.
Next they need to come up with a matching cup dispenser that looks like a Moai with a "topknot" where you pull the cup out of the top of it's head. I'd buy that. 5 Stars for uniqueness.

Great for a few laughs Jun 06, 2006

I too have this great tissue holder and I solved the problem of it being upright by wedging it between several books on a book shelf in our family room. It works great!

Be upstanding Sep 12, 2007
By italtrav My solution to the problem of placing the box upright:
1) Get a plain old stamped metal bookend (basically a piece of thin steel bent at a right angle, causing a kind of "tongue" to extend on one side). Mine is about 4.5" wide and 4.5" high. 2) Place tongue piece between bottom of tissue box and inside bottom of Tiki holder. 3) Set upright. Stand back. Admire. 4. For greater stability, place a can on the part of the bookend that extends out from behind the holder. I'm using Steen's Sugar Syrup, but I imagine canned spinach will work as well. Exercise your creatvity.
