I first tried Swiffer wet jet over a year ago and ever since I've been hooked. The Swiffer Wet Jet works really well for picking up dirt and cleaning up spills.

The microfiber cleaning surface readily picks up dirt and dust.

I once had an absolutely catastrophic spill in my bathroom that I had to clean up with my Swiffer Wet Jet and I was surprised how much water the Swiffer soaked up. Don't underestimate these plain-looking pads - locked inside the pads is are tiny polymer beads that, when wet, turn gelatinous and expand to many times their original size. These pads can soak up more water than you might think!
The sticky, smeary residue that someone mentioned is the gelatinous substance from a ruptured cleaning pad. Under normal circumstances, the Swiffer WebJet Cleaning Pads should not leave a residue on your floor.

Really Locks Dirt into the Pad Dec 06, 2010

The advertisement is TRUE.
It does lock the dirt into the pad.
I clean 2-3 times a week, so my house
doesn't get very dirty compared to some homes.
If the pad is lightly dirty, I'll use it the second time.
I REALLY LIKE THIS PRODUCT.

I didn't understand for awhile, why my swiffer wet jet wasn't cleaning like it used to, meaning it was leaving lots of particles behind when I was using it. I was recently at a garage sale and found an old partially used refill box so I picked it up. I couldn't believe the difference in how it cleaned!! Being the busy Mom that I am I hadn't noticed the change in advertising on the current refill boxes and that they no longer market their "cleaning cuff".
I now know the cleaning cuffs on the old version ARE what made the product so fantastic when it came out. I also now know that the current product is as worthless as any other "mop". I am not going to use my machine or buy swiffer wet jet refills again until they bring the cleaning cuff feature back.
And to finish my soap box...I do not understand why companies decide to "trick" consumers by changing their product to something cheaper but still charge the same. I know consumers should be aware of what we purchase, but I feel this is a form of fraud and it is ethically wrong!!
