 Expectations Exceeded May 26, 2005
By misunderstood
I just received my new Suncast Deck Box today. Unlike some other folks, I measured my patio cushions and checked the specs. on the box BEFORE I purchased it. (I'm amazed at how some people can blame the box for being too small when they didn't measure their stuff beforehand? Hmmmm??)
So when I packed the box with my cushions there were no surprises at all...they fit perfectly with room to spare for other items. As well, the size of this deck box fits perfectly on our deck and personally I find the green accents of the box attractive as well.
As others have mentioned, the assembly really couldn't be simplier...a few snaps here and there and bingo...you're in business.
The wheels and handles are great features which make this a very manuverable box. Very easy to position from place to place if need be.
Please note that this box does not lock so don't buy it if you need this feature. The lid is designed with an "inner lip" so you have a second line of defence against wet weather so your contents *should* remain dry. I guess I'll find out soon...(follow-up: Dry as a bone after a few thunderstorms!!)
All in all a very nice purchase and I highly recommend it.
Final word: Please measure your stuff first before purchasing a deck box so as to avoid disappointment.

Our patio's neater with a place to put the toys... Jun 05, 2000
We bought the Deck Box specifically to use as an outdoor toy box for our children. As such it is everything we wanted. The plastic seems strong enough to last awhile and yet it's light enough to move around. The lid isn't too heavy and won't hurt little fingers too badly if they're caught. Assembly gets highest marks, my 6 year old and I had it done in under 5 minutes. Pieces are clearly marked and it literally snaps together. We're considering another for a separate area of the play yard.

I am happy with my deck box too. 60 bucks at warehouse club if you have the energy. But, unlike claim here of 5 year limited warranty, the papers enclosed state that box is warranted against defect "through time of purchase." Even if it wasn't out of warranty by the time you got it home, you'd have to pay shipping to and from Suncast (probably 60 bucks too!) to cover them selling you something broken as you bought it. I wrote to them via email to ask for an explanation and they didn't bother to reply. So, if it isn't right, take it back right away. Or, consider Rubbermaid's competing and similar product- they have Much better customer service which will matter if you need it. Nice box-bonehead company.

Just what I wanted Jul 05, 2000
Getting tired of walking back and forth to the garage for the garden tools you forgot? Or storing bird seed inside where it gets messy? Zoning laws forbid a storage shed (which can be unsightly anyway)? Me, too. Until I found this deckbox (the least expensive I found online, too). Assembly is literally a "snap" without tools. It glides anywhere I want it. It holds more than I thought it would. And even those pesky squirrels and racoons have yet to figure out how to get at the birdseed inside. I look forward to wheeling it to the garage come winter and not having to pack then unpack my garden supplies next year. Go for it - you'll like it.
