I have been using Sprint Industries high output filters for many years, in New Zealand. Currently in the USA, I bought another one for when I am here.
I highly recommend the filter from Sprite Industries. But THIS is not it... read on.
I purchased this one from Up North Sales mistakenly thinking it was the one from Sprite Industries. Originally I was looking at the correct product on Amazon, then saw this one come up in the "similar products" or "customer's who bought this also looked at" area on the page. The picture showed the same product so I clicked over to it. All the pictures they have are of the Sprite Industries product. The description is also very much the same. It even says "... shower filter. By Sprite". It had free shipping and was in stock (Best Filters--the other company I was checking out--was out of stock at that time). So I bought this one.
The product that arrived was different. The first thing I noticed was the casing had a wavy pattern around the central rim. No problem, I thought perhaps it was just a new look. Then I picked it up. WOW... At a guess it was at best 1/2 the weight of the true Sprite model. Perhaps more like 1/3 the weight. What makes these filters heavy, highly effective, and relatively expensive is the amount of KDF media in the cartridge (made of Zinc and copper 'particles'). This thing was clearly lacking a lot of this all-important ingredient!
I promptly returned it. Received a full refund for shipping and product. No issues there. Very happy with the prompt and full refund. I wrote a note to Up North Sales explaining I think their product photos and description is potentially misleading and certainly confusing. I heard nothing back. As they are not rectifying the matter, I am writing this review to let people know they may want to look to another product. The one from Sprite Industries works very well and has way more KDF in it. I can't say how this particular "Universal" model performs as it never made it from the hallway where I opened the package. My guess? With so much less KDF, I can't see how it would perform as well as the TRUE and ORIGINAL filter from Sprite Industries.

((UPDATE: In the comments below my review you will see that Chris from UP North Sales has spoken up. You will also see my response. What I wish to add to this review is that Up North may have simply made a mistake by sending me a similar device made by another manufacturer. Chris has also pointed out that as of Jan 2010 Sprite have changed their design. I note that there is no indication of this on Sprite's website, but perhaps they are slow in updating it. Where to order from? It's up to you, of course. If you get if from Up North and are not happy with it, you can always return it... at some cost -- I have also changed the title of this review))

Been using this model for years and I'm glad I can get the filters at Amazon now.
The shower head can be used with your regular shower and shower head. After a couple showers, you can feel the difference in your skin and your hair. Takes out all the chlorine and other crap that could be in your shower water.
Open up the filter after a few months and flip it around to get the max life out of your filters. I get nearly a year of showers from my filters.

I have used these over the years at other homes/properties, but when I bought this place, I couldn't believe how bad the water was! (I plan to have it tested - it actually smells 'dangerous'). Not only did it smell bad, and make it hard to breathe (noxious fumes), but it burned my skin, too.
Finally, I ordered this and put it on (easy!) and IMMEDIATELY it made a difference. No fumes, no horrid smell, and my skin is soft again.
Everyone needs these on all their showerheads! I plan to get one for the guest bathroom soon.

Bought it cause my toddler has ezcema and we also realised her hair is quite rough after bathing. After installing for less than 1 week, we noticed that my toddler's hair has indeed became softer and more managable so that means the product is working very well!

I purchased this as a replacement for a larger shower filter I had used for years with no problems. This one was more expensive--as are the replacement filters--but I wanted something a bit more aesthetically pleasing so I decided to give it a try. Product looked as advertised and was easy to install. I just unscrewed the old filter housing and screwed on the new one. It worked fine for about six weeks. Then, one night as I turned on the shower, I heard a loud "pop" and saw that the housing had cracked and water was dribblign out the side.
It was during the holidays so I didn't get around to contacting the seller for a few weeks. When I did, I got a snippy email from "Jon" saying I was out of the 90-day warranty and that "the only time that area cracks is when the filter is overtightened or too much Teflon tape is used." In fact, it had been almost exactly 90 days since I'd ordered the thing, but a few days less than that since it had arrived. Secondly, I had not even added any Teflon tape after removing the old filter, and I had only hand tightened it--and not particularly tightly.
When I spoke to Jon on the phone, he acknowledged (with no apology) that he was wrong about the warranty expiring. But he still refused to acknowledge even the possibility that the product had been defective. Instead he insisted I must have done something wrong during the installation. He offered me two choices--ship the thing back at my own expense for a refund or order another filter replacement (which I didn't need and which, including the cheapest UPS shipping option of $9 came out to nearly 40 bucks) and he would send me a new housing. So either way I had to spend more money on a defective product.
