Nice for the Price Oct 09, 2008

Nice big temperature dial and reddish orange pointer make it easy to check the temp from 20'. I hung the thermometer under a covered patio about 20' from the house and can check the temp from inside during our hot 100+ Sacramento summers and cool 40 degree winters.
The nicely antiqued metal frame is made of heaver metal than I expected so it is nice and sturdy. The glass is nice and clear, easy to keep clean and being glass should stay clear for many years. The plastic ones I've had a work yellowed in a few summers and became quite scratch from cleaning.
The temperature coil and clock mechanisms are enclosed and should remain dry if not put in direct weather. The dial and glass face are vented and so far I have not had any fogging on cool moist mornings.
I have tested the temperature against several other handheld gauges and the Springfield is accurate within as degree of two either way. I've had units costing three times as much that were not as accurate - impressed.

A thermometer should tell the temperature Oct 21, 2009
By R. L. Little I've had this clock/thermometer in my backyard, mostly out of the sun, since late summer. For all I would know from its readouts, it's 65-70 degrees every day except when temperatures top the 90s. Looks nice, but not much help.
didn't last last Nov 06, 2011
By Marmie This product was just what I wanted. I loved the look and functionality. Problem was after 2 years the clock failed to work. This was on an outside covered porch. I was never rained upon nor in direct sunlight. Changed batteries often, but after awhile it just wouldn't work. While I never expected it to last forever I did assume it would last more than 2.3 years - especially with good care.

By Riconn I am very pleased with the thermometer/clock. I was what I was looking for, and it works very well.
