Looks nice, but leaves much to be desired compared to others Sep 06, 2010

Bought this clock as a replacement for an older LaCrosse Technology outdoor clock. It looks nice from a distance and the beach/sand theme is attractive. It's readily readable from a distance. However, I cannot recommend any purchase this for anything other than a decoration.
To call this an "outdoor" clock is a bit of stretch. There is a small plastic cover that snaps over the clock mechanism on the back of the clock. No o-rings or other rubber seals to prevent moisture intrusion. It appears the manufacturer just took a normal indoor clock and added the plastic cover on the back.
The thermometer is a joke. At best, it is accurate to with +/- 15 degrees of the actual temperature. I've tried several times to adjust it, but the mechanism is so sloppy it could never be within 5 degrees. You should not expect to get any usefulness out of the thermometer.
After about two months the clock no longer reliably kept time. And I don't mean it drifted a few minutes fast or slow....I mean it basically stopped working. I've replaced the batteries twice...same results. After 12 hours or so, both hands end up pointing between the 5 and 7 positions and remain there. I can install a fresh battery, set the time, and by the next morning it's pointing down again.
Bottom line, if you are looking for an accurate outdoor clock that will last, I'd go elsewhere. I may look into replacing the clock mechanism and thermometer mechanism with higher quality components.

Beautiful piece Jul 13, 2009
By G. Tuckett The, "By The Sea" clock is a wonderful addition to the pool area where I work. I'm the maintenance technician there and have gotten nothing but compliments about how well the clock works aesthetically as well as functionally in the space. The residents love it and its also and most importantly, very readable from all areas of the pool and surrounding deck.
Thanks for this wonderful item.

outdoor clock Jul 15, 2008
By Sharon C terrible. it's plastic and looks cheap. didn't work at all when it arrived. the seller credited me right away without having to return the product and pay more shipping. great customer service but they should remove this item from their product line. it also arrived with a little rust and it hadn't even been outside yet!

Lousy outdoor clock ....needs to be removed from selling list Jun 07, 2011
By Sue28 This clock is terrible. I received it and it didn't work. Amazon agreed to exchange it. It's been a little over 30 days, Amazon return policy is over and the clock quit working. If this product is defective, why sell it? Sue28

Did not work Jul 16, 2010
By Stineman519 The Clock did not work when I received it . It was poor quality for an outside clock. When the 2 hands went around the hit each other and would stop working. They were mad from plastic so I couldn't even bend them so the hands wouldn't hit they just moved back . I do not recommend this product.
