This dresser FELL APART! Jan 08, 2005
By Jamie L. Martin I'll admit, a good black dresser is hard to find. But this piece would not even be worth $5. After owning it only a month, the tracks for the top two drawers fell out. I fixed them, only to have the bottom three fall apart right after. I have had all the drawers sitting on my bedroom floor for months, forcing me to finally buy a new dresser. Bottom line - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!

Cheap and not worth it Feb 08, 2008
By E. S. Webb I saw this advertised as a significant discount from what the original asking price was for the drawers, by about $500. The description didn't state what the materials were exactly so wasn't sure if it was solid wood or particle board. Turns out particle board and there must have been a mistake because in doing the 5 minutes of research I should have done, it turns out the price really wasn't on sale, it was listed as the price that the original vendor was selling it at all along.
It is shipped in two boxes from Canada, so took a while to arrive.
Lots of pieces taking a long time to put together. Now that it is assembled, I'm very unhappy with my purchase. It is a very "cheap" chest of drawers. The bottoms of the drawers do not stay in place and my cloths are constantly falling through into the next drawer down. I bought some glue today in hopes I can glue the bottoms in place to prevent this from happening anymore. The drawers do not slide properly. At least the knobs look nice.
All in all, save your money and hit a thrift store or Ikea. I'll probably be doing that now after my cloths fall through one more time to the next drawer.

Don't waste your money Aug 05, 2008
By Rochester I believe I ordered seven pieces from this set. At least three of them showed up with missing parts, and several were significantly scratched. On one of the pieces, one of the dowel holes was drilled too deep, so when I tapped the dowel in, carefully following the instructions, it broke right through the finished side of the panel. The veneer on this furniture is the thinnest I've ever seen. It is incredibly easy to scratch the furniture and ding the corners. A little black touch-up marker was sent with each piece along with a note that basically says it is completely normal for brand-new furniture to arrive all dinged up. Perhaps the versions with wood-like veneer are more durable, but I highly doubt it.
I admittedly dropped one panel, but from a height of only maybe an inch or two, and it complete destroyed the corner of the panel. The corner pretty much just disintegrated. I am still waiting on missing and replacement parts after several attempts to get them. Prepac sent me some of the parts that I requested, but not all of them, and they didn't even bother to tell me which parts they did send. The company that I purchased the furniture from, Cymax, has even worse customer service. Non-existent is a good description. I'm honestly thinking about filing a complaint with the state attorney general about their lack of communication.
This was the worst purchase that I've made in a long time. I really wish I had only ordered one piece and examined the (very poor) quality before deciding to order a whole set. On-line, this furniture looks a little more sturdy than most RTA furniture, but it is not. It is not worth half of what I paid for it. I hate to think what the cheaper PrePac furniture is like. My advice is to save up for some real furniture and stay as far away from PrePac and Cymax as possible.

you get what you pay for! Jan 13, 2009
By Kasey C i bought a prepac sonoma bedroom set back in 2004/2005...two two-drawer night stands, a five drawer chest, and a six drawer dresser...i had some issues as another review mentioned with missing pieces when they arrived...however, i purchased mine through a very popular retailer who sent me new items/replacement parts immediately without question...though the whole process was still frustrating!
the furniture was pretty easy to put together, but took a lot of time...they arent high quality, but you get what you pay for...think particle board...they look good, but do scrape up easily...ive used black nail polish to 'touch up' scratches and its not really noticable...i pulled the top off one of my night stands while trying to move it once (lift from the bottom only!)...i used wood glue when i put it back together and it hasnt come off since...i bought these as a cheap way to furnish my first apartment out of college...i still have the furniture 4 years later and its made it through a move...id say the set is worth if if youre trying to save money and have decent matching furniture...however, i wouldnt buy this if youre looking for high-quality solid wood!
