 Magnetic post needs a wider base for ease of installation. Oct 07, 2010

I installed magnetic door stops in our last apartment to hold open some doors that would always slam shut when the wind blew through the bedroom. Other reviews are right on when they say that they need to be installed perfectly in order for maximum hold. Those magnetic posts worked wonderfully. We didn't want to rip up the baseboards when we moved out so they were left there. In our new place, we have doors that once again slam shut when the wind blows through open windows. I ordered these to fix the problem.
What I noticed is that these were not as easy to install as the ones I had used before. The base of the previous magnetic posts were wider, allowing me to drill in the screws straight-on into the wall in line with the marks made to ensure the two magnetic parts were perfectly lined up with each other.
This doorstop has a narrower base for the magnetic post which causes it to get in the way when you try to screw it in straight. I installed two of these at the new apartment, and neither of them line up correctly because the angle you need to use to drive the screws into the wall moves the post from where you want it and prevents a clean/perfect fit.

Used to be the door would close by itself, no longer. This powerful magnetic door holder keeps the door open like we want. Works great I would recommend for those whose door won't stay put.

This is one of those things that makes you say "I wish I thought of that". It takes 2 minutes to install, and does exactly what it says it will do. Even with a good breeze going through the house, that door stays put!

We live right on the water & when we open the sliding doors, the wind creates a wind tunnel in the house. These small magnetic door holders keep doors from slamming shut. Great product!
