Implements Well Jul 05, 2008

I am pleased with the performance of the gate that I recently purchased. It spanned the gap very well for us as we had just moved into an upper apartment. I have a one year daughter; she is not able to push this thing around at all.
The only thing I felt that was not taken into consideration was the fact that if you have a large baseboard lining your floor, the gate will actually end up having to be elevated from the floor, regardless it still work phenomenally.

Much better than average reviews - Great Dog Gate Oct 29, 2009
By Yasha's Mom I hesitated buying this gate after reading the reviews (I always sort by user review). But have been quite pleased. First, I needed a door that would open to the side, and this was the only good option I found. Construction is good, all metal. Install was relatively easy. I do wish the bottom attachment was a bit higher to avoid the 1/4 round at the bottom of the wall, but since each of the four adjustments is independent, I was able to work around it. Additionaly the 2nd gate I bought tat the same time had the same problem. I realized it is because they want the bottom to be very close to the floor (this one has a floor balance below the door hinge). Door is easy to open, which was a just for me because a 90 yr old mother must pass through it, and my purpose was to shut in dogs not kids, so I did NOT want the dog door opening.
I like the install, it was not hard, took less than 30 minutes. Would much rather have an install that protects my walls and protects against pushing, rather than a pressure mount that caves in the walls.
Will test it out on kids this weekend. They might be able to undo the latch. I use simply the easy up-down latch , for pass through while containing pets. However if one uses the adjoining catch latch which requires a two hand opening, I would think it would contain some children. .. but then kids can be pretty smart and pretty determined! anyway for my purpose - a dog gate, it was excellent.

Does not fit all openings between 38" and 60" Jan 03, 2010
By J. Osgood Although the instruction manual claims, "This gate can be used in openings from 38 to 60 inches," there is a window between 40 and 45 inches where the gate cannot be made to work. Using only the main gate (without extension) it will span up to 40" and the gate with extension can only be shortened to 45", leaving the gap between 40 and 45 inches, which happened to be the opening I wanted to span.
In addition, I didn't like that it would only swing one way; also, the latching mechanism seemed cumbersome. It's probably a good gate if you have a very wide opening, but otherwise, stick with something else. The two stars are because the product was not as advertised.

Works wonderful May 27, 2010

This works great to keep the dogs out and the baby in. My son is 15 months and a busy body, the dogs are large and this gate contains both.It works very well in our 52" opening and was easy to put together and install. The only thing I suggest is use different (longer) screws to attach the guides to the wall.

Works perfectly Feb 19, 2010
By J. Simmons I have this gate up in my home to keep my dog locked up during the day. He is a 70 pound Black lab, and this gate works perfectly for what we need of it. The gate opens and closes to prevent us from having to step over. I think this product is very handy and works great for the price.
