Best Puzzle Mat! Sep 22, 2010
By Msnehz I have researched mats for a while before deciding on which ones to buy and then which ones to keep. I ended up buying 3 different mats on Amazon. Obviously I returned the other two and kept this one. It's by far the best out of all the other ones I've researched and tried. Why I absolutely LOVE this mat:
- This mat is thicker than the other ones. Nice thing about a thicker mat is of course more cushion for the young ones. This feature has been an lifesaver for my then 6 month old when she's just beginning to sit up on her own and would fall back a handful of times. Now that she's 9 months old she's on this thing everyday playing and crawling around. The cushion definitely helps on her cute little knees.
- The mat is not only thicker but has a much better quality/material compared to the others I've tried. The other ones were so flimsy that they come apart so easily and letters pop out when you move it. I can move this one around and the squares stays together.
- No annoying edge pieces! I hated how the other mat had edge pieces as part of them puzzle mat. It was annoying and just more pieces to worry about coming apart. This mat just has the individual squares and the letters.
- Nice surface texture. The side that my daugter crawls around on has nice soft texture and doesn't feel rough or plastic-like.
- Very easy to clean. Sometimes my hubby would step on the mat with his shoes or my daughter would get milk on this thing. Very easy to just wipe off any dirt or stains.
- Colors are very vibrant and pleasing to the eye. Perfect for the babies who are exploring their sights and senses.
- So far I dont really have anything negative about this mat.

Wonderful Jun 25, 2009
By Janet M This mat is everything I wanted. It doesn't need ends or edge tiles like some of the other mats I looked at. It is thick enough in case of an accidental fall. Tiles stay together and the letters are easy enough to come out for a little one to play with (but not take the whole mat apart). Very happy with purchase.

fun product Sep 28, 2008
By AmazonMom We have hardwood floors in the nursery and needed a "rug" in there to help soften up bumps and falls. I opted for the mat as I thought it would provide a little bit of padding and be educational too. It's slightly springy (still very firm though); and my baby loves to scratch at the texture. It is easy to wipe clean as well. The letters come loose for later educational play. It's very colorful and fun and we are definitely enjoying it.
Addendum: Was looking for a larger one, and noticed several 'we sell mats' types that look very similar but thinner (3/8) -- they appear to be less expensive.

Best mat and the colors are in the right order! Feb 11, 2011
By European I am sooo happy with this product! The colors are bright in the right order, the mat is soft, but thick enough to stay together, AND I also asked the manufacture if this mat is FORMAMIDE FREE ,due to European recalls.
"Are your foam mats Formamide free? I just purchased a Play & Learn Soft & Safe SoftFloors 5' x 5' x 5/8" play mat and need to make sure! Please let me know!" And the answer was: "Yes, you can view our test results at [...]-From: Mr Jeffrey A. DAlessio
I couldn't purchase a better one! Play & Learn Soft & Safe SoftFloors 5' x 5' x 5/8" Baby Pink / Ivory

So much better than the Tadpole Playmats May 13, 2010
By Amilia Fugman
"Mils"
I purchased both this mat, as well as the 4x4 Tadpole playmat, as we have hardwood floors throughout the downstairs.
The Tadpole one arrived first. It was WAY thinner than it claimed in the Product Information, and the pieces come apart when you move about on them. Needless to say, I was a bit worried that this one would do the same.
It arrived today and I'm so pleased with it! The mat is thick and sturdy. The pieces fit together and don't pull apart when you sit or move on them. This mat was more expensive, but definitely worth the difference. I guess you get what you pay for.
