WORKS FINE, BUT... Jul 18, 2009
By punkypoptart Orka is a favorite brand of mine.
Check out the Orka Ice Cube Tray, which is a great product. The lid not only prevents odors from permeating your ice, but is also designed so that you can lock a small stack of trays together for a spill-less trip across your kitchen to the frig.
But, I'm wandering off topic...
So, I wasn't surprised to find that these Orka tongs are also a high quality kitchen tool -- solidly made, dishwasher safe. They do what they're supposed to do without any problems.
However, I specifically ordered the green tongs because the photo on Amazon.com shows them to be LIME GREEN -- which I thought would be kooky and fun.
Unfortunately, they are more of an AVOCADO GREEN. If you are still recovering from the era of avocado green kitchen appliances (and burnt-orange shag rugs), you may wish to consider purchasing these tongs in some other color.

Orka 12 inch red tongs...just okay.. Jan 20, 2010
By C. Gilbert These tongs look nice and do the job when using them on my non stick George Foreman grill. I love not having to worry about my grill getting scratched up. The silicone tips work great for flipping softer foods on the grill and stirring on the stove top. BUT there are a few drawbacks that I've experienced. First, they are not 12 inches. I have OXO tongs that are 12 inches, and they measure 12 inches from the base of the tongs(not the end of the lock)to the tip. These measure 10 inches from the base and around 11 3/4 including the lock when extended in the locked position. Not such a big deal, but I was expecting the same size as my other 12 inch tongs. The spring is very tight, so when I am using them for a period of time my wrist starts to ache a little. I'm hoping that it will get a little looser as time goes on. One more drawback is that the silicone gets pretty slippery when turning chicken or steak and I have dropped chicken on the floor a couple of times!

Orka 12" stainles red silicone tongs Oct 22, 2009
By Paula T. Lambert I was excited to get some color in my kitchen gadgets I use on a regular basis so I purchased the Orka tongs in red. The first time I used them, the silicone tip (red) broke off without me even doing anything. Mind you, I am not rough with my things and was very disappointed after paying more for this item than a regular boring tong. Amazon says returns have to be made within 30 days so I guess I'm out of luck with these.
colin's opinion Mar 10, 2011
By sonarman I found this item to be exactly what i wanted, easy to use, picks thinge up as stated in the specs. and overall the best tongs i've ever used.
Great nonslip tongs. Nov 16, 2010
By Thomas Kaneko Easy to use, locks closed with a pull on the ring, and the nonslip surface makes for easy cleanup. The silicone can be fragilee, so be careful if you hold a roast with the tongs while carving; it's easy to carve off some of the scallops on the edges.
