This NorthStar Horizontal/Vertical Log Splitter is powered by a quality Honda GC engine. The 4in. x 24in. cylinder splits logs up to 25in.L in either in a vertical or horizontal position. Features a 2-stage Barnes pump, which decreases cycle time by delivering high flow/low pressure when there is no resistance and low flow/high pressure when cutting through a log to reduce travel time and increase productivity. Uses a horizontal-shaft engine, engineered for a long life. Add the exclusive NorthStar 4-way wedge wings (Item# 1143, sold separately) to quarter logs in one split instead of three. worst on line purchase of my life May 14, 2007

It's been 5 weeks since I recieved my splitter. Unfortunately the bags of hardware needed for assembly were missing from my shipment, causing a one week delay. Finally, after a multi-hour assembly, the Honda engine started perfectly, but the splitter would not move. After many hours on the phone with the manufacturer, I was told to tow the splitter to the nearest engine/tool shop 15 miles away. There it sits, 2 weeks and counting.Understandably, they work on their own stuff first. The is awful. My advice? Buy local.

Got tired of lookin' at all the telephone poles foulin' up my view of beloved Skunk Holler, so me and the relatives pooled our pennies and got this log splitter (NORTHSTAR HORIZONTAL/VERTICAL LOG SPLITTER - 22-TON, 5 HP). Heck, took some 12 hours to assemble, and even then, Cousin Buford had half a dozen bolts and seven washers left over (plus we had done used all of our electrician's tape).

Well, we fired up that Honda GC engine, and she came to life like a saber-toothed tiger. . .and lurched like one, too. The exclusive Northstar 4-way wedge sure made an interesting addition to Uncle Hiram's garage door, I'm tellin' ya. (What's left of it.) So we towed this puppy to the first telephone pole and launched that ram force of 22 tons. But wait. The log has to actually be lyin' on the ground? Well, forkle, that's no good. So we just got Cousin Luther's pole axe and had them unsightly poles down in no time; trouble is, now we can't call to return the log splitter (NORTHSTAR HORIZONTAL/VERTICAL LOG SPLITTER - 22-TON, 5 HP). Who knows? Maybe this splitter just don't like guys named D.
