Heavy is better when talking utensil crocks! Jun 20, 2007
By J. Papeo What can you really say about a utensil crock? The batteries die too soon? The picture is clear? The author took me to a magical world of make believe?
Well, it does hold many utensils, much better than my last one.
Why would I recommend this crock over others? Weight.
This is one heavy momma. The benefit is that unlike the thin stainless holders, this thing stays in its place.
Look, we all cram as many utensils into this thing as we can. With a thin, light holder the entire crock moves around or comes with you. You actually need 2 hands...one to hold the crock and another to take out what you need.
With the weight of this crock, only one hand is needed. It stays in place.
I very much recommend this crock or any color that matches the rest of your decor. MUCH better than the stainless crock we used to use.

Not as tall as it appears in Amazon photo Aug 16, 2009
By Elizabeth This Large Utensil Crock in Black Onyx looks in the photo like it will be taller than it is wide. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The crock, although beautiful, is too short. It is plenty wide, to hold many utensils. But it is so short (6 inches) that some of my Le Creuset utensils lay more at a sideways angle than upright, because the sides of the crock should be taller, like they are in the photo.
The photo is misleading. Amazon or Le Creuset should replace it with a photo of the actual item. Perhaps this is an older version of the item, but the proportions are clearly off.
Also, I would have preferred it if the interior of the crock were also black. It is beige.
The crock is beautifully made, but I may look at returning this and replacing it with one of the Le Creuset canisters, which could be used without the lid. The Black Onyx color is lovely and goes beautifully with my new Le Creuset Black Onyx utensils. They are mostly leaning against one side, as it would take a huge number of utensils to fill up this crock. To be more functional, the crock needs to be taller and less wide.

Le Creuset Poterie Large Utensil Crock, White - Love it May 16, 2003
By Mrs. Romano
"Mrs. Romano"
This large utensil crock is a must have, particularly if you have KitchenAid utensils. The KitchenAid utensils have a larger handle than most other brands so it is necessary to use a larger crock. This crock is very solid and heavy. It looks great on my counter and provides very handy use of utensils. I keep all my KitchenAid utensils and wooden spoons etc. in this crock and keep all my All Clad stainless utensils in their own crock. I like to keep stainless utensils separate so as not to accidentally use them on nonstick pans. This crock is very attractive and could also be used for ice cream or even a kitchen plant. Excellent quality, value and appearance! Highly recommended!

Heavy, solid, holds a lot, BEAUTIFUL Jun 06, 2007
By Trixie Well, I love all of the red Le Creuset items and now have several of them adorning my red/black/stainless/ivory kitchen. This crock replaced a smaller mouthed black one we had, and I just love it because it's beautiful, of course, but also it holds so much. I no longer have to squeeze things in... All of my kitchen utensils fit and there's room for more!

Love it Jan 30, 2010
By loml1 At first I thought this crock would be too large for my utensils but I quickly filled it up and it's perfect. I would say I have about 10-15 items in there including spatulas, spoons, tongs, etc. The color starts at a dark periwinkle and fades ombre-style to navy. It looks great on my counter and I kind of want another one...
