Bulky, elegant, lovable. Jul 13, 2011
By xylenol15 Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1ETLRY54MZJ8K Only some of the gears move noticeably, but that makes sense. I find it to be reasonably quiet. It does stick out quite far from the wall, but I don't mind that, since I can view the workings from the side, too. I found the gears to be a matte silver rather than the white in the original product image; maybe it's a matter of lighting. A thoroughly lovable novelty. My one complaint is that the rim is not stainless as one reviewer said, nor is it nickel plated: It's ordinary polished steel, and I have already spotted a few tiny flecks of rust on the back of the rim. Iron can be such a lousy metal. Anyway, it does LOOK like it's nickel plated, but as the description of "nickel" usually implies actual nickel plating I would like amazon to update the color to "polished steel", since actual nickel plating serves the important function of fending off rust, which this clock could have a problem with if it were kept in, say, a bathroom or a garage. Also, although I bought the clock once it had fallen to $60 from $97.50, the price still seems steep given that most of the clock is plastic, and the thin gauge metal rim is made of the cheapest metal on earth. The moving mechanisms though, seem to be good quality.

Cool Clock - Entrancing Kinetic Sculpture Jan 13, 2011
By John J. Spittle III
"GearMaster"
Works well as a clock and keeps perfect time. Virtually all of the gears turn, making it an unexpected, wonderful, entrancing kinetic sculpture. The works on many similar clocks are static, and not nearly the visual delight. The packaging is extensive and very protective to ensure that it arrives unscathed.

Top Gear Jan 18, 2008
By J. Childs Great product. I was a little concerned about the actual gears being plastic as I thought it might look cheap, but it absolutely does not. In fact, unless you got right up next to it, you probably wouldn't give it a second thought. The clock is pretty heavy though, so there will be careful consideration as to where to hang it.
Opted not to pay for express shipping, but it arrived in 2 days anyway. VERY happy with that as it made it in time for Christmas.

Nice clock Apr 26, 2009
By M. Duperre I really like this clock. It really looks nice and makes no noise when running.
I was wondering if I received the correct model when I measured it though. The description on Amazon says it's 16x5x14 and that it's nickel/white. I received one that is 14 inches in diameter and stands 4 inches off the wall and has a stainless steel rim.
Also the center of the clock was off from the center of the rim about 3/8 of an inch. The packaging was undamaged so I dont know how it happened. I had to loosen all the nuts holding the brackets and posts to the rim and recenter the mechanism to the rim.
Thats why I only gave it 3 stars but the clock looks and works great so I'll keep it.

Excellent Clock Dec 30, 2009
By Whitty I bought this as a gift for my husband who is a mechanical engineer. He loved the clock. He especially liked it because all the gears move. There are some gear clocks where the gears don't move, only the hands. The gears are made out of a cheaper material but suitable for the price of the clock. The clock looks great on the wall. It's very stylish. Also, the clock was delivered to my door in about a week and a half. It's a great clock.
