how wide is extra wide? Jun 29, 2010

I ordered 2 of these for my twins' cribs. I had tried harder plastic ones that were supposed to fit over the rail, but the crib rail was too wide. I wrongfully assumed that I would need the extra wide version. I looked on the amazon and kidkusion website trying to find what size cribs these fit or the product width, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Turns out they were too wide for my cribs. For future reference the product is 51" long as stated on the box, but it is a total of 7" wide. The adhesive is at the edges so you cannot trim this product to fit smaller cribs. I returned the product, but plan on buying the smaller version as the texture felt nice and it seems to be the only size that will fit my cribs.

This is a horrible product. It will remove the finish off the crib. Now my dark cherry crib is missing the finish on three sides. I'M NOT HAPPY!!!

This really seems like it would have worked well had I ordered the right size for my crib. I had originally purchased a crib rail cover from a local store that just slides over the rail,but that was too narrow. I was really excited when I found this one, but when I went to put it on the crib, I found it was too wide. I didn't realize this in time to return it so I guess I'll pass it on to another mom. Even though I couldn't use it, I was pleased with the prompt delivery and the product seems like it is quality.

Yes, meh... Not that good, but not that bad. We purchased this to immediately go on our new crib. Upon attempting to attach it, the sad thin little adhesive strips that are already on the rail cover do not stick very well. To wood. Unfortunately, it was placed on a box when my daughter attempted to grab the end that was on the floor and I happened to notice that the box stuck rather well. And sadly, it does not come with extra adhesive strips. After purchasing some highly excellent double sided tape, it is now secured and protecting the crib. I wish it was more transparent and my daughter seems to not prefer the taste of it. I guess in the end that's a good thing since it stops her from chewing on the crib. In the end, some good points and some bad points, so I give it a meh.

Prior to purchasing, I saw that the reviews for this rail cover were mixed, and I decided to take my chances. Happily, it has worked just perfectly for us. It really was very easy to apply to the crib. I just followed directions, and now, almost a year later, it is sticking as firmly as day one. It looks great in that you can barely see it, and my son must love it too, because he gnaws on it all the time. I only wish that the length they gave you was more, or that I had purchased two boxes. They give you enough for the two sides of the crib, but I would have like it on the front as well. My son doesn't chew there, but it would have been perfect to prevent the scratches and wear that my husband and I have caused with our clothing when leaning over the crib.
Update 2/12: We are now expecting our 2nd little one. The gummi rail covers that we installed nearly 2 years ago worked great and are sticking on today just as well as day one. I am going to be purchasing a 2nd box of this product to cover up the (previously mentioned) scratches that my husband and I caused with our pant buttons and zippers on the front rail of the crib. I just wish I had done this in the 1st place because then the crib would be in pristine condition.
Regarding the other reviewers who said the product does not stick: it sticks GREAT...just follow the directions. I have not tried/do not plan to to remove the protectors from the crib, so I don't know how doing so would affect the finish, but the product seems like it could be removed easily enough with enough care in doing so. My only 'complaint' about this product is that I wish they gave you enough to cover 3 sides of the crib.
