My 2 year old daughter, simply loves this bed. The bench is a wonderful touch for her toys. This is actually a lot bigger than we imagined. The picture does not do this one justice. It's a really nice bed. Sturdy, too. You will not be disappointed with this bed!
Caveat: Items were damaged in shipment. The items ship in the original packing which isn't very good. KidKraft has Xclnt customer service and a website for ordering replacement items for FREE.

Fantastic Jun 09, 2010
By Kmjs This bed is fantastic. Our convertible crib was broken in a move, so it could only be used as a crib (and not convert like we did for our first son). Our second son had a horrible problem of getting his knees and chubby thighs stuck in the slats of the crib so we had to move him to a bed at 15 months. He is a shorty, so I was afraid of him being able to get in and out and falling off, etc. This bed was the perfect choice. It is low to the ground, but incredibly and surprisingly sturdy. It is plain wood so you don't have to deal with some cartoon character so it isn't too overwhelming and instead you can just dress it up with different sheet sets and it looks great. I put this together myself (with the help of my 3 y/o) in about 2 hours. It would have been quicker without my little "helper". I do advise that you use an actual Allen wrench and regular wrench and not the ridiculous cheap ones that come in the little tool kit. That's it! Both of my kids love it and my child has had no issues.
Please be advised that this bed only holds up to 50 pounds, so I would suggest you not lay down in it with your child. I haven't tried testing the weight limit, but I don't feel like finding out if it would hold me.

Excellent Toddler Bed Dec 05, 2009
By Sonia J. Thomas We received this bed for our two-year-old as a gift. It is very easy to put together, lightweight enough to move easily, and yet very sturdy. My daughter loved this bed from the very get-go. The bookend shelf at the foot of the bed is a terrific feature. At first, we were concerned that the side walls were not high enough or long enough to keep her from falling out of bed, but she has never fallen out in the entire six months she has been using it. We are very happy with this bed. If we ever had the need for another toddler bed, this would be the one we would want again.

I love it now, but.... Mar 05, 2011
By N. Morris My 3 year old has been using this bed for over a year now and both of us really love it. It's low to the ground, withstood a jumpy toddler and has a really clean, low-profile look. Like other reviewers said the picture doesn't do it justice.
Size-wise it's a toddler bed so not much room for mom/dad to lie down and read stories; but, we've been able to sit/squeeze next to him on nights when he's had bad dreams and the bed has held up great. I honestly can't say the same about many other flimsy toddler beds. In fact after checking out the ones at the big stores I promptly came back to Amazon and got this one -- it seems worlds better.
The bed was easy to assemble. It's been awhile so I can't remember if any tools were needed but I can tell you that I am the most un-handy person I know and I was able to set it up myself.
Sounds great, but here is the big BUT (and the reason I took out a star):
If you have a toddler who tosses and turns and wiggles a lot at night then make sure you pad the sides. In fact pad everything: the headboard, sides and footboard. After using it that first night I woke up to see my poor little guy with a bloody nose from hitting the headboard. I was so upset!! If I could have disassembled it that instant and ship it back I would have. During his sleep he would sometimes sit up then lie back down again. Since all four sides are pretty low it was easy for him to smack his head when laying back.
Stupidly enough I just padded the headboard and sides for the second night and wouldn't you know it, he sat up, turned around and banged his head on the FOOTBOARD. So for a few months I padded all the sides.
Now that he's used to the bed we have had it pad free and it works beautifully. I'm not sure that all toddlers sleep as roughly as mine; but I think this is a design flaw that could be addressed by raising those sides. However, since it's easily enough fixed by padding with comforters and the bed is working beautifully now I would still recommend it.
It's sturdy, attractive, and my 3 year old loves sleeping in it.
