Disappointed with quality of second purchase... Feb 06, 2007
By Gabor Szakacs About a year ago I bought one of these sets in a department store, and having lost or broken a number of pieces decided to buy another one. The new set is definitely not as well made as the first. The lids were all warped and don't quite fit the original containers, nor do the original and new containers stack together. The old turntable ran more smoothly and had a pull-out feature so it could be used in or under a cabinet. This feature is missing in the new set. Overall this is still a good method of organizing storage containers, but the quality seems to have gone downhill.

TONS of sandy compact storage Jan 02, 2009
By Mrs. Davis my 8 year old son purchased this for me about three years ago. I obligingly used it because it made him happy. I never expected to LOVE this system. Every container uses the same size lid. And even though the containers look small. The large containers can really "pack it in". It also makes it easy to access because the base slides out. Making the height of the space a non-issue. After 3 years of TONS of use; I am down to just a few containers and lids. I've taken food to work for lunch and to school and sent food home with family memebers in these containers. Never to see them again. Hahaha! Plus I've tossed a few in the trash because I did not want to wash what had been hiding in the back of the fridge for a couple of months. (I think that happens to everybody.) I am actually ready to buy myself a new system. Very affordable and very convenient. I strongly recommend anyone buy this item. Handy, self-contained, practical. :-) Mrs. Davis

Quality is far below my original set Feb 18, 2011

I loved my original set so much that I bought a set for a co-worker who's getting married, and bought another for myself to replace some containers that have gone missing over the years.
My experience is the same as others who had an earlier set. I returned the one intended for a gift but reluctantly kept the one for myself since the containers fit my original carousel.
As the other reviewers said, there are notable differences in quality in the following areas:
1. The plastic in these containers is noticeably thinner than in the original set.
2. The edges are very rough to the touch (and in some cases shredded plastic peels off.) I think this will lead to problems with staining and prevent proper cleaning/sanitation.
3. As I took one of the carousels out of the box, a metal bearing somehow fell out and rolled across the floor.
4. The plastic section dividers are not as rigid as in the original set and they don't lock into the carousel properly.
5. Lids do not fit consistently.
VERY disappointed.

Lids don't fit all sizes Jan 13, 2006
By Cat Woman So, I bought this thing because it seemed like a good idea -- clean up the mess of lids and tupperware containers I had everywhere. The only problem is, the lids only fit the 8 oz. containers, NOT the medium or large containers. All you sit and do is struggle to get the lids to fit and they don't. Essentially, making this item worthless. Unless all you ever need to do is tote around 8 oz. items. Very disappointing.

What a disappointment Dec 26, 2011
By Larry S Wright I have bought two Smart Spins before. Although this looks like the smart spin, it is not. The containers are very thin, cheap and flimsy by comparison. You easily crush the containers when you try to put a lid on them. I'd be concerned about heating in them or washing in dishwasher.
