We bought this from Amazon because our local furniture store wanted over $100 for the same item.
It is easy to assemble and feels sturdy and well made. We've had it up for several years or now with no problems. Ours is loaded with coats and sweaters for a family of four but has never tipped over. It's nice that the upper hooks swivel around, making it easy for everybody to get her coat. We also like having the lower hooks for kids' things.
If it were beautiful in addition to being functional I'd give it five stars. But really, looks don't matter all that much: when it's loaded with stuff you can hardly see it. I recommend this item.

I have wanted a coat rack forever! I've looked everywhere; but, the ones that looked sturdy enough were always way too expensive. I spent about 3 hours on Amazon looking at Every coat rack and reading all the reviews. This one won without any close competition.
After getting it home I can write my own great review.
This was super easy to put together.
With a family of 4 we have way overloaded this sucker and it is sooo sturdy.
We have a winter and a spring coat from each member...that's 8 coats! And my boys hang their heavy backpacks on it after school everyday. Still no signs of stress. Not to mention this is a very attractive furniture piece that does not look cheap in any way!
This is a must buy for anyone wanting a sturdy, good looking coat rack for a great price!

This is an beautiful piece. Thought it was wrong as it came in a smallish box. When I put it together it lookied great and is very stable.

Bought this rack from Amazon a few days ago. The assembly of this unit was easy except for the legs. None of the legs would slide easily into the slots provided for them, I had to take a rubber mallet and tap on them to get them seated fully in the slots.
Once I had it all together and stood it up to look at it I found it was leaning over one way, I managed to remove the legs after quite a considerable effort and examined them closely. I found that one of the legs was quite a bit longer than the other two, I would have had to add about a 1/2 inch shim under the one leg to get even close to being level .
I decided to send it back and ordered another one from a different seller. I got the second one today and found that this seller called the colour a Tobacco Finish and the first seller called his a Dark Walnut they were both the same colour.
Assembling the second one was easier with legs sliding into the slots much more freely than the first one I ordered. However I found that one of the legs had been broken but had been stained over to hide where the part had snapped off.
I also found that this one also was leaning just as badly as the first one. I tried fitting the legs into different slots but the results were always the same.
I would have sent this one back also but it was intended for a Christmas gift and I didn't have time go searching and trying to find another one in time so I guess i'm stuck with it and will have to try to fix the lean somehow.
It's quite obvious that there is no quality control by who ever is making these things, it is also obvious that they are just re-staining the damaged parts of the racks that are returned and reselling them. After reading so many of the other reviews I can't believe that they are even bothering to check these racks for level, maybe they just don't care. It can't just be a coincidence that I get two racks and both of them are leaning.
The box that this unit was packed in came with one of the threaded rods that join the two large spindles together, sticking out of the end of the box.

I ordered this product back in November 2008. When it arrived, I immediately noticed that it was defective. I called the company's customer service and they were great at first. They said to send it back and that they would ship me out a new product immediately. On December 23rd, they called to tell me that they were shipping out my replacement product. After a week after this phone call and no product received, I started to call the company. You can never receive a live person when you call. They have to call you back. Well they decided to not call me back when I called. They decided to instead just ignore me. They had my money and I was obviously of no service to them. Finally after a month of calling them, I decided to use their "live chat" to talk to someone. They told me that the reason I did not receive my product was that it was backordered. That is fine, but why did they tell me that they were shipping it a month and a half before that? Overall, my experience with this company was nothing but a hassle. They lie and don't care to return your phone calls. Yes, the product if and when you do receive it, is nice, but just beware, the experience to get the product is horrible.
