This platter, like everything I have gotten from Fiesta, is just gorgeous! However, it is quite small, and does not tend to be as useful as some of the larger pieces I have purchased. It pays to take out your ruler, and try to get an idea of size, before you buy. But if you are looking for a smaller platter for a more intimate dinner, or for only a small family, it will be perfect! I still love it! And use it!!

I just got a couple of the 9-3/4" oval platters in black, plum, and shamrock. I have a few of the 13" oval platters that I use as serving pieces. But the 9-3/4" is just the right size for when my husband and I want to have salad as a meal. It is not too small and not too big--it's the perfect size.

We have started to build a full set of these smaller serving-sized plates. Although we have the larger round plates by Fiesta, these are perfect for keeping the serving sizes within reason. Fill these oval plates up and you have a perfect meal without going overboard. We love them!

These little platters would be practical for small servings, but I purchased mine as a under plate for the sauce boat. They work perfectly for my purposes. Besides they are cute.

I have to admit that when I saw the word 'platter' I did not look at the actual size of the platter. When I got this, I was shocked to see how small it really is. So if; like me you are looking for a platter for a main dish to set in the middle of the table - do not choose this one. It is really small... but the good news is that it is very useful for other (smaller) items that you do not want to put in a big round plate. So it is a very useful platter. I bought two and I have found that I have used them often. More so than I would have expected. To be honest - If I had seen the size before I bought them, I would not have purchased them - but now I am glad I did....
