Earthway Spreader 2050TP Oct 01, 2008
By Gardener Bob This spreader is able to spread large granules or very fine granules over a wide range of settings. The pneumatic wheels are wider than the plastic ones on the lower price model so the spreader is stable enough to pull behind my lawn tractor without tipping. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Update Sept 2009: I have had this spreader for a year. It started tipping once the metal on the hitch bent from use and was no longer able to keep it stable. I bent the hitch back and put water in the pneumatic tires to make it more stable. One of the vertical supports collapsed the 4th time I used it. Fertilizer had got into the hollow tube and had caused it to rust from the inside. Earthway offered to sell me a replacement at dealer cost and noted that I should coat the inside with oil to make it more rust resistant. I opted to make a wooden replacement.
The spreader setting does not always remain the same when you shut it OFF and back ON while spreading. I have tightened it very tight but when you are apreading you may put more force on it than your realize and it will slide down and can greatly increase the application rate. It needs teeth so that it will not slide so easily.
This spreader needs some design enhancements to make it a longer term good buy. It turned out to not be as good as I first thought.

Satisfied Customer Apr 20, 2009
By S. Barnes I used the Earthway 2050TP to do my 2 acre lawn and I am pleased with its performance. Its spreads evenly and empties the hopper completely. I never had one problem with the settings changing and I traveled over some very rough terrain. For the price, I am not sure I could have done better.

By R. Connor Made in Indiana! Much better quality than the Chinese Agri-fab I bought last year. The Earthway has bigger gears and easier to adjust control. The Agri-fab gears stripped after about one hour. I use my Earthway on 1 1/2 acre. If you have more land, I recommend the Earthway 2170T.

Broadcast spreader May 03, 2009
By Head Gardener I bought this spreader to speed up spreading grass fertilizer, weed control on an acre of lawn. It was easy to put together and attached to my lawn tractor. The big hopper holds enough material to do both the front and back lawns at once. I was afraid the turn off handle would be too far from the tractor seat to reach but that wasn't the case at all. Easy to use, low cost solution to the spreader problem. Would recommend this model as it eavenly spreads material and was the lowest cost of any spreader I looked into.

Fair at Best Sep 21, 2008
By T. Boyles The unit's wheel base is so narrow that it tipped over on a sharp turn the first time I used it. When this happened it bent the thin metal bracket that attaches it to the riding lawn mower. I wish I had spent more money and got a little better unit.
