VERY Loud. Sturdy. Kids hate it though Mar 03, 2010

For Christmas, my children each got one of these. We have a problem getting everyone going in the morning, and we decided this would be a good way to get them to start being more responsible for getting themselves up. Problem is all 3 do not like using the clock because it is sooo loud. The alarm sound is more like a "robot" noise than an alarm, and, believe, me, it wakes you up, but it really jangles your nerves. Our bedrooms are all in the upstairs portion of the house, and when 1 alarm goes off, everyone wakes up (us included).
My youngest child is 6 and she really hates it because it sounds like our fire alarm. She came out of her room shaking the first time it went off - and it was the one in her sister's room. She said "please don't make that alarm go off anymore!" She does not want to use it.
Ten year old son won't get up and turn it off. He just let's it keep running (he's awake but won't turn it off, so we all sit and listen to it).
13 YO daughter won't use it - says it is too jarring to wake up to.
So, we have these very tough alarms that no one is using.
The buttons on the alarms are a little funky to use to set the alarm but it gets the job done. You can turn off the wheels if you want and just have the alarm part. This is convenient.
Bottom line - it does what it says but it is best suited for an adult that lives alone and has trouble getting up. Maybe a guy in his late teens or early 20s partying too late and needing to get up for work.

By afrhodes I have always been addicted to the snooze button. When I first heard about Clocky I ordered it within five minutes. Contrary to what other reviewers say, this alarm clock isn't 'too loud.' It makes a series of beeps, whistles, and other noises along with a small flashing light to help wake you up.
When you hit snooze if you have it on the stationary setting it will go off about 30-40 seconds after you hit snooze, which for me ensures that I wake up faster than a clock with a longer snooze period. I found both settings (run/hide and stationary) to be effective, though I prefer to set it to run and hide to ensure I don't go back to sleep. Product is very sturdy.
Way too slow Feb 13, 2011
By joshers2005 After reading all the good reviews, I purchased 2 Clocky Alarm Clocks for Christmas...one for my dorm mate and one for myself. My clocky died the day after Christmas. We replaced the AAA Batteries and it still doesn't turn on. My dorm mate's clocky works fine but it is very slow. The carpet in the Quads of our College University is very smooth, so we're both surprised that it takes more than a minute for clocky to run from the bed to the door. If clocky didn't spin as much, it would take only 30 seconds. If it had an option for speed and spin control, not only would I give clocky 5 stars, but I would recommend it to everybody I know. Sadly, it doesn't...so I would not recommend this product (especially to a student like me who stays up till 2:00 AM doing paper work).
