Don't throw away the packaging Apr 17, 2010
By J.R. We bought the Aquatopia Deluxe for our newborn son 2 months ago; it was very easy to use while it lasted, but it lasted only about a week. We had decided to buy it after reading these stellar reviews, and even though it cost a little more, we thought we were paying for better quality. The biggest mistake we made was throwing away the packaging (including the warranty), at a time when we were getting rid of piles of boxes that came with the baby items we had bought online.
The Aquatopia looked exactly like pictured -- cute, and was very easy to use, for exactly 4 baths. It powered off automatically almost as soon as I took it out of the water. During our son's 5th bath, I noticed there was a small amount of water under the display window. I took it out of the water immediately, but it didn't power off like it had done previously. I followed by shaking it, as some reviewers here had described doing, but again it did not power off. It finally went off on its own after about five minutes.
At midnight the same day, in between our son's feedings, we were awakened by a loud, high-pitched sound from the Aquatopia. I knew something was wrong, but still held out hope this was just a signal that the battery needed to be changed. When I opened up the battery covers (there were two layers), I found tiny drops of water on top of the battery (bad sign). After I replaced the battey and put the Aquatopia back in the water, it did not turn itself back on again. It was obviously that the thermometer had short-circuited. When I looked under the back cover, I found rust had spread across the entire circuit board.
If we had kept the original packaging and warranty, we could have had it replaced. When we decide to buy another bath thermometer, we will stay away from Aquatopia.

Works great! Jan 29, 2009
By A. Chang As a first time mom, I am terrified of the idea of burning my daughter. I love to take really hot showers, so my tolerance for water is much higher. This thermometer eases all of my fears. It turns on as soon as it hits water, and turns off when it dries. I just give it a few shakes after a bath and it usually turns off. The thermometer beeps when the temperature gets too cold (I think 89 degrees or less) and when it gets too hot (101 degrees or more). If it is in the right range, it doesn't make any sounds. It just displays the temperature in both Farenheit and Celcius. As an added bonus, it's a super cute design and I know my daughter will love playing with it once she learns knows how to grab things!
One more thing - I hate paying for things that don't offer free shipping, but it was totally worth the additional shipping cost and more! I highly recommend it to anyone who is concerned with the temperature of the bath for their children.

Works great! Oct 18, 2008
By M. Maday I'm always skeptical of thermometers but I have tested this one against others and they are always the same temp. It also works pretty fast! I put it in the tub as I'm filling it and it adjusts the temperature as the water fills. If I hear the too hot warning, I can adjust the water. I love this thermometer!

The one and only working bath thermometer Jul 31, 2008

We tried and looked at other models and found everything else ugly, stupid or terribly inconvenient. This product does everything correctly.
