I usually just wrap my heavier armature wire with the 1/16, but I will use this for fingers, claws, and other such small details. There's really no substitute for aluminum armature wire.

I really like this wire, but I hate paying for it. It's a nearly perfect wire for building a sculpture armature, but the price difference between the aluminum wire and the steel variety is something to consider. I use this wire in conjunction with a thinner steel floral wire for added strength. This particular wire is pretty good quality and can take several bends (in a general area) without breaking.

This aluminum wire was too soft for my liking. I make armatures for clay people characters. This stuff may be great for some artists, but I didn't care for it at all.
